THERAPY AT OAK HOUSE
A place to put down some of what you've been carrying.
You don't need to have the right words, know exactly what's wrong, or have a clear idea of what you need from therapy.
Sometimes you know exactly what brought you here. Other times, you just know that the way you've been feeling, coping or connecting isn't working anymore.
WHEN THINGS FEEL HEAVY
You might not call it trauma, anxiety or burnout. You might just know you don't feel like yourself.
Maybe you're getting through your days, but it takes more out of you than it used to. You're more irritable, more on edge, more disconnected, or just tired in a way that sleep doesn't seem to fix.
Maybe something happened that you can't quite leave behind. Or maybe there wasn't one big thing at all - just carrying more than you realized.

WHAT WE CAN HELP WITH
The things you carry can show up in different ways.
You don't need to know what to call it. We can start with what's happening, what feels hard right now, and what you'd like to understand or change.
TRAUMA & PTSD
Experiences that continue to affect how you feel, respond, connect or move through the world - even when the danger itself has passed.
ANXIETY & OVERWHELM
A mind that won't switch off, a body that stay on alert, overthinking, worry, panic or the feeling that everything is becoming too much.
BURNOUT & STRESS
When you've been pushing through for so long that exhaustion, irritability or disconnection have started to feel normal.
RELATIONSHIPS & CONNECTION
Patterns, conflict, communication or disconnection that make it harder to feel understood and connected to the people closest to you.
IDENTITY & LIFE TRANSITIONS
Making sense of who you are when your role, relationships, career, family or circumstances are changing.
EMOTIONAL REGULATION
Understanding intense emotions, shutting down, reacting in ways you don't understand, or struggling to feel steady when things get hard.
OUR APPROACH TO THERAPY
There isn't one right way to do therapy.
Therapy at Oak House is individualized to you. We'll take the time to understand what's happening, where it may be coming from, and what you actually need - rather than trying to fit you into one particular approach.
Sometimes that means slowing things down and making sense of patterns. Sometimes it means learning practical ways to manage what's happening right now. And sometimes it means doing more focused trauma work to help you process experiences that continue to affect you.
APPROACHES WE MAY DRAW FROM
Cognitive Process Therapy (CPT)
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

EXPOSURE & REINTEGRATION
Getting back to life can be part of the work.
Sometimes recovery means more than talking about what happened. It means gradually returning to the places, situations, roles and routines that have become difficult to approach.
Exposure and reintegration work is individualized and collaborative. It might involve returning to work after a leave, rebuilding comfort in community settings after a period of avoidance, navigating the transition from military to civilian life, or gradually facing situations that trauma, anxiety or depression have made feel unsafe or overwhelming.
THIS MIGHT INCLUDE
Workplace & return-to-work reintegration
Community-based exposure
Gradual exposure to avoided situations
Military-to-cilvilian transition
Rebuilding routines, independence & confidence
GETTING STARTED
You don't need to know exactly what you need before we begin.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step. We keep the process simple, so you can focus less on figuring out how therapy works and more on whether it feels like the right fit.
01
START WITH A CONVERSATION
A consultation gives us a chance to talk briefly about what's bringing you to therapy, answer any questions you have, and see whether Oak House feels like the right fit.
02
SEE IF IT FEELS LIKE A FIT
We'll connect you with a therapist whose experience and approach fit what you're looking for. You'll have space to ask questions and decide whether it feels right before moving forward.
03
BEGIN THE WORK
Therapy starts from where you are. Together, we'll make sense of what's happening, identify what you want to change, and build an approach that fits you and your life.
